If Bloodshot ends up driving enough interest, we might get another Valiant property on the silver screen to maybe push for a Valiant Cinematic Universe. As it is, Valiant has only been represented outside of the comic page via several video games in the ’90s (including an X-O Manowar/ Iron Man crossover, weirdly enough) and a web series from a couple years ago centering around the character Ninjak. With the release of Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot, we’re getting our first attempt at a movie adapting Valiant Comics. The bombastic ending pushes this first issue across the finishing line, catapulting Bloodshot into a deadly match-up that will leave fans enthralled.We’re at the point where there are dozens of Marvel movies, dozens of DC movies, and a couple Dark Horse ones sprinkled here and there. But once it hits critical mass, nothing can stop it from taking flight. RELATED: REVIEW: Image Comics' The Last Shadowhawk #1īloodshot Unleashed #1, Valiant's first-ever Mature Readers title, takes its time to build momentum. But once the action gets underway, bright primary colors shake things up, letting the barrage of guns and explosives blow off some steam. Colorist Jordie Bellaire douses the background in muted colors to create a post-apocalyptic ambiance throughout the book. Panels of different shapes and sizes follow bloodshot every step of the way, filling details in bold outlines and adding to the volume. The first thing that artist Jon Davis-Hunt does is shed light on Bloodshot's home inside an inhospitable atmosphere, mimicking Bloodshot's own mindscape of tiny specks of happy recollections amongst a tomb of dreadful memories. What is an adults-only title without spectacular depictions of gore and gut-spilling violence? Bloodshot Unleashed #1 ticks all the above boxes in abundance.
